Tasks & Responsibilities
- Create and organize multiple client engagement teams for Canadian corporate tax matters, including tax planning, minimization strategies, and compliance
- Deliver technical expertise related to complex tax and assurance issues through high-quality deliverables
- Supervise project financials including budgets, WIP, billing, collections, and variance recognition
- Prepare transactional documentation and provide advisory support to clients
- Liaise with the CRA and provincial ministries on client tax matters
- Communicate with team members and clients to address corporate tax queries
- Analyze discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries and reports
- Prepare and execute election forms
- Assess client issues arising from compliance or tax planning activities
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of competitive proposals tailored to client needs
- Participate in pre-engagement meetings to define responsibilities, risk areas, materiality, and timelines
- Identify methods to maximize client relationships and service impact
- Review tax returns and team deliverables to ensure high-quality control
- Monitor and adjust project timelines against defined targets
- Represent the firm in local professional, business, and community networks
- Contribute to the development of new processes and innovative tax approaches
- Coach, mentor, and train junior team members
- Perform other related accounting duties as required
Skills & Qualifications
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation completed
- Completion of Level 1 & 2 of the In-Depth Tax Program
- 5 to 6 years of relevant experience in public accounting
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in Canadian Tax
- Solid understanding of business, accounting, and practice development principles
- Expertise in domestic tax compliance and tax reorganizations
- Proficiency in Caseware, Profile, QuickBooks, and Simply Accounting
- High computer literacy, including strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Some travel may be required
