Tax Manager – Canadian Tax

Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Create and organize multiple client engagement teams for Canadian corporate tax matters, including tax planning, minimization strategies, and compliance
  • Deliver technical expertise related to complex tax and assurance issues through high-quality deliverables
  • Supervise project financials including budgets, WIP, billing, collections, and variance recognition
  • Prepare transactional documentation and provide advisory support to clients
  • Liaise with the CRA and provincial ministries on client tax matters
  • Communicate with team members and clients to address corporate tax queries
  • Analyze discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries and reports
  • Prepare and execute election forms
  • Assess client issues arising from compliance or tax planning activities
  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of competitive proposals tailored to client needs
  • Participate in pre-engagement meetings to define responsibilities, risk areas, materiality, and timelines
  • Identify methods to maximize client relationships and service impact
  • Review tax returns and team deliverables to ensure high-quality control
  • Monitor and adjust project timelines against defined targets
  • Represent the firm in local professional, business, and community networks
  • Contribute to the development of new processes and innovative tax approaches
  • Coach, mentor, and train junior team members
  • Perform other related accounting duties as required

Skills & Qualifications
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation completed
  • Completion of Level 1 & 2 of the In-Depth Tax Program
  • 5 to 6 years of relevant experience in public accounting
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in Canadian Tax
  • Solid understanding of business, accounting, and practice development principles
  • Expertise in domestic tax compliance and tax reorganizations
  • Proficiency in Caseware, Profile, QuickBooks, and Simply Accounting
  • High computer literacy, including strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Some travel may be required
