Tasks & Responsibilities
- Participate in client-facing engagement teams focused on completing U.S. corporate tax engagements
- Advise organizations on optimal U.S. corporate structures from a tax efficiency standpoint
- Deliver technical expertise on complex tax and assurance issues through high-quality deliverables
- Prepare due diligence and financial modeling for potential U.S. acquisitions by Canadian entities
- Review domestic and international federal and multi-state corporate/partnership tax returns
- Manage project financials including budgets, WIPs, billing, collections, and variance tracking
- Collaborate with team members and clients on specific corporate tax inquiries
- Analyze discrepancies and irregularities in financial records and reports
- Research tax issues arising from compliance or planning engagements
- Assist in preparing and delivering competitive proposals to clients
- Participate in engagement planning to align roles, risk areas, deadlines, and expectations
- Identify opportunities to enhance client relationships and deliver additional value
- Review tax returns and other deliverables to ensure high quality and accuracy
- Monitor and adjust project timelines to ensure milestones are met
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure accurate documentation is prepared
- Contribute to the development of innovative tax strategies and internal processes
- Prepare annual written performance reviews for assigned staff
- Perform other related duties as required
Skills & Qualifications
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or U.S. equivalent
- Master’s Degree in U.S. Taxation, Law, or Member of the Bar (considered an asset)
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in public accounting and/or tax consulting
- Strong technical knowledge and experience in U.S. Corporate Tax
- In-depth understanding of business, accounting, and practice development principles
- Proven experience in U.S. tax compliance and corporate tax reorganizations
- Familiarity with transfer pricing tax concepts
- Proficient with tax software such as Caseware, GoSystem, ProSystem, and Profile
- High computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Some travel may be required
