Tasks & Responsibilities
- Prepare and lead client-facing engagement teams handling international corporate tax engagements, including tax planning, global tax minimization strategies, and compliance for Canadian entities operating abroad
- Advise organizations on effective international corporate structures from a tax perspective
- Conduct due diligence and financial modeling for potential acquisitions of foreign subsidiaries, partnerships, or business operations by Canadian entities
- Analyze domestic and international federal and multi-state corporate/partnership information returns
- Oversee project financials including budgets, WIPs, billing, collections, and variance tracking
- Respond to specific tax-related queries from clients and team members
- Identify and address tax issues arising from compliance and planning work
- Support the preparation and delivery of competitive proposals tailored to client needs
- Participate in pre-engagement planning to define roles, risk areas, deadlines, and materiality
- Assess ways to strengthen client relationships and deliver added strategic value
- Review tax returns and internal deliverables to ensure quality and accuracy
- Supervise project timelines and adjust targets when necessary
- Coach and guide team members to ensure proper documentation and compliance
- Contribute to the development of new internal ideas and approaches
- Mentor, train, and support the development of junior team members
- Perform other related duties as required
Skills & Qualifications
- CPA designation, or Master’s Degree in Taxation, or Member of the Bar
- Completion of the In-Depth Tax Course
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in public accounting, including at least 3 years in Corporate Tax
- Strong expertise in International Tax
- Broad knowledge of business, accounting, management, and practice development
- Extensive experience preparing and reviewing international tax compliance and tax reorganizations
- In-depth understanding of transfer pricing and cross-border tax planning strategies
- Proficiency in CaseWare, GoSystem, ProSystem, and Profile
- Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Some travel may be required
