Tasks & Responsibilities
- Analyze, research, and prepare written correspondence for tax planning and tax reorganization engagements
- Lead client-facing engagement teams responsible for completing Canadian corporate tax engagements
- Review tax returns and other deliverables prepared by team members to ensure high-quality control
- Prepare election forms and related tax documentation
- Execute client transactions and provide advisory services
- Deliver technical expertise on complex tax and assurance issues through clear, high-quality deliverables
- Liaise with the CRA and provincial ministries on client-related matters
- Collaborate with clients and team members to respond to corporate tax queries
- Identify and analyze discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries and reports
- Research tax issues that arise during engagements
- Support the preparation and delivery of competitive proposals tailored to client needs
- Participate in pre-engagement discussions to define roles, risk areas, deadlines, and materiality
- Understand client needs by analyzing their business operations and risk factors
- Identify opportunities to strengthen client relationships and deliver added value
- Monitor and analyze project financials (budgets, WIP, billing, collections)
- Supervise project timelines and adjust targets as needed
- Ensure proper documentation by leveraging the team effectively
- Contribute to the development of new processes and innovative ideas
- Provide feedback to colleagues to enhance performance
- Coach, mentor, and train junior team members
- Perform other accounting-related duties as required
Skills & Qualifications
- Completion of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
- Completion of Level 1 & 2 of the In-Depth Tax Program
- 5 to 6 years of relevant experience in public accounting and/or tax consulting
- Strong knowledge and experience in Canadian Tax
- Solid understanding of business, accounting, management, and practice development principles
- Expertise in domestic tax compliance and tax reorganizations
- Experience with accounting and tax software such as Caseware, Profile, QuickBooks, and Simply Accounting
- High computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Some travel may be required
