Accounting Manager

Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Prepare or review Notice to Reader engagements
  • Complete or review compliance tax filings including T1s, T2s, T3s, T4s, and T5013s
  • Maintain, monitor, and reconcile general ledger accounts, including cash, marketable securities, AR/AP, accrued liabilities, corporate taxes, and intercompany transactions
  • Complete payroll, Deductions at Source, and GST/QST/HST returns
  • Handle government remittances/filings and year-end tax forms
  • Perform month-end and quarter-end close processes
  • Liaise with government agencies to address client tax compliance issues
  • Review, investigate, and resolve discrepancies in financial entries and reports
  • Identify issues and errors, propose solutions in collaboration with managers or engagement partners
  • Respond professionally and promptly to client requests, questions, and concerns
  • Complete assigned engagements within scope and budget
  • Set up client files and assist with budget completion and administrative planning
  • Manage project financials, including time budgets, WIPs, and timely billing
  • Monitor file progress and support project coordination
  • Ensure proper documentation is prepared and file procedures are followed
  • Mentor, coach, and develop team members
  • Review work completed by other team members to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Provide constructive feedback to team members
  • Liaise with clients, peers, and leadership with professionalism and clarity
  • Contribute to improving internal work processes and systems
  • Deliver technical expertise and high-quality deliverables across client work
  • Think strategically by understanding client businesses and risk areas
  • Perform other related duties as required

Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or Business Administration (Accounting major)
  • CPA designation is an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in public accounting
  • Bilingual in English and French (spoken & written)
  • Experience preparing and reviewing T1s, T2s, T3s, T4s, and T5013s, with strong knowledge of both personal and corporate tax
  • Strong understanding of payroll, bookkeeping, and recordkeeping practices on manual and computerized systems
  • Solid grasp of business, accounting, management, and practice development principles
  • Experience with accounting and tax software such as Caseware, ADP, QuickBooks, and Simply Accounting
  • High computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Some travel may be required
